DesignMyNight Reviews Chatora City: Award-Winning Modern Indian Dining Near Bank Station
We’re delighted to share that DesignMyNight has featured Chatora City in a glowing five-star review, describing their visit as “genuinely one of the best Indian meals I have ever had.”
Located just moments from Bank and Mansion House stations in the heart of the City of London, Chatora City was praised for its warm hospitality, modern Indian cooking and carefully curated wine programme featuring more than 120 wines selected to complement Indian flavours.
Modern Indian Dining in the City of London
Since opening in the Square Mile, Chatora City has quietly built a loyal following among City professionals, local residents and London food lovers looking for exceptional food without the formality or inflated prices often associated with fine dining restaurants in the City.
Following the success of our Richmond restaurant, owner Jam Rahman brought the Chatora philosophy to the City:
- Real cooking over a traditional charcoal-fired tandoor
- Exceptional ingredients sourced with care
- Genuine hospitality
- Honest pricing
Today, that vision continues under Executive Chef Imamuddin Khan, formerly of The Cinnamon Club and Kahani, whose menu combines traditional Indian cooking techniques with contemporary creativity.
DesignMyNight’s Favourite Dishes
The review highlighted many of the dishes that have become favourites among our regular guests.
Among the standout dishes were:
- Honey Chilli Cauliflower with gochujang and roasted spices
- Our signature Butter Chicken, slow-smoked in the style of Old Delhi
- Kadhai Paneer with San Marzano tomatoes and toasted peppers
- Chatora Black Dal with home-churned butter and burnt garlic
- Traditional Gajar Halwa served warm with coconut sorbet
One dish in particular stole the show.
“If you try anything from their menu, make it the black lentil dal.”
High praise indeed.
More Than an Indian Restaurant
One of the things that makes Chatora City unique among Indian restaurants in London is our wine programme.
With over 120 wines available by the bottle and glass, guests can explore pairings rarely found elsewhere in the capital, whether that’s a crisp Gavi di Gavi alongside seafood dishes or a bold red paired with lamb from the tandoor.
DesignMyNight also praised our cocktail list, highlighting the Rose and Cucumber Collins and Mango Maharani as standout summer drinks.
Warm Hospitality in the Heart of the Square Mile
The review also recognised something that sits at the heart of everything we do.
Hospitality.
From business lunches and client entertaining to celebrations and relaxed weekend dinners, our aim has always been simple:
To make people feel looked after.
As DesignMyNight wrote:
“We couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome.”
